Kemmikal, the lyrical Khemist was born Kemar Bennett on November 19, 1986.  He was originated from an East Kingston Community known as Dunkirk.  While growing up he moved to another community in East Kingston, Jamaica, known as southside in a back and forth process between Dunkirk and southside.  He attended Calabar All Age School, passes his Common Entrance Exam in 1997 then attended Kingston College.  While growing up in East Kingston, Dunkirk, Kemmikal was influenced by artists like Spragga Benz and Assassin, who played a great part in bringing out the artists in him.  This influence was transferred to his peers and friends to participate in community and school events such as treats, parties, sports day, and community talent shows.  After high school he then decided it was time to start working on his career as a recording artist.

In late 2007 at an event Kemmikal met one of his school mates Deane Cooke, otherwise called Diddy Peng, who then linked him with Caution who started his own record label called, "Pressure Dem Records" in early 2008.  They came together to release his first single, "What's Next."  This got several rotations on the airwaves, clubs and dancehalls.  They decided to do a video for the single which was directed by Sojah, a duo consisting of the two dancehall brothers, Konshens and Delus.  With determination, Diddy Peng Productions, Pressure Dem Records and Kemmikal decided to release two more singles, "I Can Feel It" and "Get Rich."  They also decided to do another video for "I Can Feel It,"  which was released in pril 2009 on Video Alley Reggae Top Ten with Suzie Q.

The journey of Kemmikal's career seems to soar once he decided to link with dancehall superstar Spragga Benz and the Red Square Rebel Nation.  Red Square Productions released the smashing single, "Hard We A Go" on the Sudden Death Riddim that was produced by Ricardo Redboom Reid and Frenz For Real.  This single gave the artists a big buzz locally and globally.  Other tracks such as "Fresh To Death" on the Audacity Riddim produced by Riff Raff and Notice Production also gave the artist a big recognition with the heavy rotation on the radio.  In 2012, the artist decided to link with Redboom again and released his single, "Love She Want" on the Heatwave Riddim with QB Records.  A video was released for this single and went number on on CVM Hitlist for four consecutive weeks.

Kemmikal is now focused on travelling overseas, doing collaborations, videos, photo shoots and promotional shows with international artists.
