Redsquare artiste Jay-5, most popularly known for his magical, raw talent, brings to entertainment a new, refreshing vibe. He lives by a single philosophy: "Never give up on your dreams. Keep working hard each day and you will be successful."
Born Omar Craig Forsythe, Jay-5 grew up in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. At a very young age he revealed to his mother his desire to be an entertainer; later delivering a spirited performance to solidify his claim. Music was a fire within that grew so rapidly he couldn't contain it, ultimately resulting in his suspension from school, on one occasion, for performing in class. Later, Jay-5 found more appropriate venues to showcase his talent and love for music. In the late 1990's with the support of his good friend Russian, Jay-5 performed at many shows in Port Maria, Runaway Bay, Ocho Rios, "James Bond Beach" - Oracabessa, St. Mary, Club Amnesia and various other venues and resorts. Jay-5 immediately became known as a crowd pleaser; however, in 2003, Jay-5 relocated to Los Angeles, California to further pursue his career in entertainment, where unfortunate circumstances caused his dream to be placed on hold.
In 2008, Russian introduced him to producer and CEO of Rebel Soulz, Mason. Jay-5 began working with the Rebel Soulz camp, recording "Magic (Pearl Riddim)" and "Just Dance (Current Affairs Riddim)" on Rebel Soulz' melodic reggae and dancehall rhythms and his fire was rekindled. Jay-5 began recording and pursuing his music career full time and professionally, which facilitated his alignment with Spragga Benz, the Red Square Crew and his producer, Minto Pierre (MPR). Jay-5 has since exhibited his magical performance on many shows with the Red Square Crew alongside artists like Spragga Benz, Foxy Brown, Kymani Marley, Beenie Man, Gyptian, Warrior King, Konshens and more.
Jay-5's recent releases include, "Eva Clean (Sudden Death Riddim)," "Hot Smaddi (Bushy Bushy Riddim)," "Back Against Di Wall (Audacity Riddim)," "Wine Fi Mi Lady (Recovery Riddim)," "Nuh Regular (Nuh Regular Riddim)," and "Likkle Bwoy (Gorilla Step Riddim)."
